Biografía
Training: Every other day I am lifting weights and doing cardio and the other days are sparring and focus mitts, and a light run.
Thoughts on opponent, John Hathaway? Reputations and hype are irrelevant to me. They don’t mean crap. This kid has a lot of pressure on him now; he’s expected to look as good as he did against Sanchez every time - but that’s not happening at UFC 120. I’ve watched Hathaway, he’s a good fighter but so is everyone else in the UFC. Fighting a good opponent isn’t anything new to me, fighting in Europe isn’t anything new to me, traveling isn’t anything new to me, fighting in front of hostile fans isn’t anything new to me. I’ve been in with top guys for years, this is just another day in the office. Hathaway’s not using me as a stepping-stone. I will put this kid away, 100%.
When and why did you start training for fighting? 1998.....it just looked like fun
What ranks and titles have you held? WEC 170-pound champ, Viking fight 185-pound champ
Do you have any heroes? All the solders overseas right now
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? To me it means everything... it is the top of the line organization, so that means I have gotten to the top and I want to stay there.
What was your job before you started fighting? Machinist
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Kick and Shoot champ in Memphis, TN
Specific accomplishments in pro competition? WEC champ
Ranks in any martial arts styles: Brown belt in BJJ
Favorite grappling technique: any move that finishes the fight
Favorite Striking technique: knees
